The American Cancer Society “Bark For Life” (BFL) Mini-Relay is an American Cancer Society Relay fundraising event that will honor the care giving qualities of our canine “best friends” and allow us to interact with others who are joining in the fight against cancer.
Canine companions represent unconditional love, joy, security, compassion, and no judgments of human abilities or appearances. Bark For Life, the American Cancer Society Canine Relay For Life, is an irresistible way to “take a bite out of cancer”, smile, and make new friends—canine and human.
Chances are that everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer. This is a way to show your support for them and for the American Cancer Society. Please join us on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Monroeville Community Park. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and the opening ceremonies start at 11:00 AM. There will then be a 1 mile walk for the dogs and their owners. After the walk stay and enjoy the carnival like atmosphere with dog contests, music, food, and prizes!
Pre registration is $20 and day of registration is $25. Registration includes a t-shirt for you and a bandana for your dog. One dog per owner, please.

Just Us Girls loves Ellen! Doing good things for good people

If there is anything good about being home sick with the flu is that you get to see things that you would not ordinarily get to see on the average mid week work day.

Today I got to watch Ellen and see her good heart through her economic stimulus package.

For those who did not get to see it, the story was about a 21 year old Pennsylvania girl who was living on ramen everyday to make ends meet and on days when she could not afford to feed both herself and her dog-she fed her dog instead of herself.

Ellen planted a swirling cash machine right outside her house and which ultimately provided $3000 in cash and also food for her dog. You can see the video here .
