Just Us Girls loves Ellen! Doing good things for good people

If there is anything good about being home sick with the flu is that you get to see things that you would not ordinarily get to see on the average mid week work day.

Today I got to watch Ellen and see her good heart through her economic stimulus package.

For those who did not get to see it, the story was about a 21 year old Pennsylvania girl who was living on ramen everyday to make ends meet and on days when she could not afford to feed both herself and her dog-she fed her dog instead of herself.

Ellen planted a swirling cash machine right outside her house and which ultimately provided $3000 in cash and also food for her dog. You can see the video here .

Just Us Girls Boutique Online Supports Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England, Inc.

We are gearing up for CSRNE's Twelfth Annual Joey Fund Auction (our biggest fundraiser of the year). CSRNE is also celebrating 22 years of being able to save hundreds of lives and place these wonderful dogs in happy and loving forever homes. CSRNE is the oldest rescue in New England having been established in 1987. Fundraising is this rescue’s only source of income. That is why events such as these are so critical! Since 1987, our mission has been to find permanent, loving homes for the many unwanted or abandoned cockers that come to us each year. Many require extensive medical attention (tumors, infections, heartworm disease, and broken bones) before they can be adopted. CSRNE strives to never turn away a cocker spaniel because of advanced age or health issues. But because of this never-ending need, plus daily kenneling charges, funding is critical. Private donations and fundraisers are our only sources of income. CSRNE has been able to save hundreds of dogs from neglectful and abusive situations and give them a well-deserved "second chance" with families who love them. This event raises money to help dogs like Dolly.

Dolly is an adorable girl who is only 5 years old and has a very, very sad story to tell. She was dearly loved by an elderly gentleman who had to be hospitalized due to a terminal illness. To make her situation worse, Dolly was diabetic and her owner did not realize it and therefore she was never treated and the lack of treatment caused her to loose her eye sight. Thanks to the intervention of the caretaker of Dolly’s owner, Dolly was brought to the veterinarian and started to receive the care she needed for her diabetes which includes a special diet and insulin injections given twice daily. Dolly is already blind due to diabetic cataracts but once she is regulated, those cataracts can be removed and her sight can be restored! The estimated cost of this surgery is $2600.00. Once the cataracts are removed, they can never return and Dolly will see again! All proceeds from this event will go directly to CSRNE's Joey Fund, a special fund set up to cover medical expenses and other costs for the rescued dogs in our care. We pride ourselves on doing the absolute best for these dogs, raising funds for health care, training, nurturing and rehabilitation. All in all, whatever they need before they can be adopted, we make sure they get it! ALL donations are tax deductible. CSRNE is a federally exempt, 501(c) (3) organization.
